Patriarch Al-Rahi on Mukhtar’s Day: “You are a microcosm of the advantage of pluralism in the unifying Lebanese national unity.”

The Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, presided over a festive mass on the day of the Mukhtar, at the invitation of the Cooperative Fund for the Lebanese Mayors, in the presence of the Mayor of Kesrouan Joseph Mansour, official, political, religious and social people, the mayors of Lebanon, heads of associations, sheikhs, heads and members of unions and associations, heads and members of municipal councils.

He gave a speech in which he said: “We are pleased to celebrate together this divine liturgy, in commemoration of the Day and Feast of the mayors. The mayors of Lebanon participate in it. It was invited by the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Fund for the Mayors in the person of its president and members, and the reception was held by the head of the Association of Mayors of Keserwan Al-Fotouh. I greet you all with the heads of all associations and mayors. It is an occasion to express to you our thanks and appreciation for your service and presence in your cities, towns and villages alongside all people in their joys, sorrows and projects, and for your readiness to meet every demand, and the doors of your homes are open to all.
Mayors deserve the attention of the Parliament and the Ministers, to issue the necessary legislation and procedural measures that will bring about the laws that protect their work and role, and approve the end of service compensation from the cooperative fund, and the continuity of their affiliation with the National Social Security Fund after the end of service, and other things that facilitate their public service. Nice meeting that brings together the mayors from different denominations. You are a microcosm of the advantage of pluralism in the unifying Lebanese national unity. This is a testimony to be added to your letter.”
